There's nothing worse than
stepping out of the shower only to grab a fresh towel with a terrible
odor of mildew. Don't fret...this is a common problem with bath towels.
Since they spend so much time being wet, it's easy for mildew to grow on
the cotton fibers. The good news is that this simple trick will
eliminate the not-so-pleasant smell from your towels. Just follow these
steps:
Use hot water Set your washer to the hottest water setting possible. This is essential for this trick to be effective
Add vinegar Run the towels on a quick cycle with
hot water and add a ½ cup of white vinegar to the load--don't add any
detergent or fabric softener.
Add baking soda Now, run the towels again on a
quick cycle with hot water, and this time add a ½ cup of baking soda to
the load. Just like last time, there's no need to add detergent or
fabric softener.
Dry the towels Finally, toss the towels in the
dyer and set it to the hottest and longest setting to ensure that your
towels are completely dry. After the cycle has ended, take a whiff of
your towels--you won't believe the difference!
